About the Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library

About the Library

The Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library is named after the Drs. Donald and Louise Cowan, a husband and wife who were instrumental in shaping the University of Dallas to what it is today and William A. Blakley, the Texas state senator whose keen interest in higher education shifted a major portion of the Blakley-Braniff Foundation to the University of Dallas. The Cowan-Blakley Library, established in 1962, is well known for its commitment to the ideals of learning at the University. The Library has approximately 300,000 volumes, including circulating books, serials, and special collections. Students, faculty, and staff have access to more than 115 databases and 84,000 online publications.
